Serenely nestled at the base of the western foothills of Maine's pastoral Saco river valley, amidst stately maples and 300 year old giant pines, discover Peace With-Inn… a special place to bring your family and return to a by-gone era of rural colonial Americana.
In 1750, Samuel Bradley claimed a small plot of fertile land near the Saco River (and what today is the town of Fryeburg, Maine), in the then Massachusetts Bay Colony, began farming, and built a homestead consisting of a traditional four bedroom farmhouse. Jacob Green, a craftsman in the area, later constructed an adjoining barn, which was typical of the functional architectural style of New England farmhouses during that era. After occupying the homestead for only twenty-seven years, on May 13, 1777, Mr. Bradley deeded the homestead to David Hardy, the first of ten generations of the Hardy family to own the home and occupy the property. Over time, "Hardy Farm" grew to be one of the principal farms in the area consisting of over one hundred acres.
Today, our lovingly renovated New England farmhouse (which remained in the original family for ten generations), combines a perfect blend of modern comforts and the romance and historic charm of pre-revolutionary colonial times. While Hardy Farm has not been a working farm for many years, Peace With-Inn has collaborated with the nearby Chester Eastman Homestead, a living history working farm to offer a completely unique family farm vacation experience.
Stay in a circa 1750 farmhouse and participate in authentic, hands-on, living history on a historic working farm. Room rates range from $90 to $200 per night, double occupancy, and include afternoon refreshments and a full gourmet New England-style, country breakfast. Family suite available.
